EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people move forward in areas where they feel stuck by helping the brain reprocess experiences and support its natural healing process.
Unlike traditional therapy techniques that require a person to describe a traumatic experience in detail, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or sound—to activate both sides of the brain and reprocess memories to be less emotionally disruptive.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps you understand and connect the different parts of yourself, including those that feel vulnerable, protect you, or push you forward. Integrated with EMDR, this approach helps bring these parts into greater alignment, working through internal conflicts and creating space for meaningful change.

Frequency of sessions is determined during your first intake session. We will discuss what you are needing in therapy and I will give you my recommendation based on my clinical assessment. Clients typically meet with me once a week, every other week, or once a month.

Fortify Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. We accept FSA and HSA cards for eligible services and can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan, so we encourage you to contact your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, deductibles, and documentation requirements. Reimbursement is not guaranteed, and clients are responsible for confirming their coverage and submitting claims.

At The Fort, we offer private-pay services to support a more individualized approach to care. Insurance plans often require a mental health diagnosis and limit which services they cover, which can be especially restrictive for couples, families, or people seeking support with life transitions, relationships, or personal growth.
Working outside insurance allows us greater flexibility in choosing treatment approaches and goals based on your needs, rather than insurance requirements. It also means your sessions and billing are not submitted to an insurance company, giving you more privacy and control over how you pay for care.
You may be able to use out-of-network benefits for reimbursement, depending on your plan. I’m happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company if you choose.
