Couples Counseling

A stronger relationship starts with creating a safer space for both of you.

Relationships matter deeply—and that is exactly why they can hurt so much when things aren't working.

Maybe you keep having the same argument. Maybe you've grown apart. Maybe trust has been damaged. Maybe you're struggling to communicate, connect, or understand each other. Or maybe things are going relatively well and you want to build a stronger, more intentional relationship.

Couples counseling creates a space where both people can slow down, be heard, and better understand the patterns that have developed between them.

At The Fort, we look at what's happening between you—how you communicate, protect yourselves, connect, disconnect, and respond to one another.

The goal is to create more safety, honesty, understanding, and freedom within the relationship so that both people have room to show up as their authentic selves.

Healthy connection doesn't require losing yourself.

It creates space for both people to become more fully themselves together.

My Approach

I use experiential approaches, IFS-informed and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)-informed techniques, and EMDR when appropriate to help couples move beyond simply managing conflict and begin understanding the deeper patterns that shape their relationship.

Together, we explore what is happening beneath the conflict—your emotions, protective patterns, attachment needs, and the ways each of you has learned to respond when you feel hurt, disconnected, or unsafe.

Our work focuses on creating a relationship where both people can feel safer, more understood, and more connected, while still having the freedom to be themselves.

The goal isn't a perfect relationship. It's a relationship where you can be known, connected, challenged, supported, and free to grow together.
